Comprehensive Eye Exams

Regular comprehensive eye exams are one of the most important things you can do for your health — not just your vision. At Arizona Eye Institute, our experienced optometrists and ophthalmologist use advanced diagnostic technology to screen for eye disease, detect signs of systemic health conditions, and track your visual health over time.

Many serious eye conditions — including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy — develop without any noticeable symptoms until significant damage has already occurred. A routine annual exam can catch these conditions early, when treatment is most effective.

Eye exams can also reveal early signs of systemic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and certain cancers — sometimes before other symptoms appear.

What Is Included in a Comprehensive Eye Exam?

  • Visual acuity testing
  • Refraction — determining your glasses or contact lens prescription
  • Eye pressure testing — screening for glaucoma
  • Retinal evaluation
  • Optic nerve assessment
  • Visual field testing when indicated
  • Screening for macular degeneration, diabetic eye changes, and other conditions
  • External and anterior segment examination

Additional diagnostics including OCT imaging and corneal mapping are used based on individual health history and risk factors.

Everyone. Schedule an eye exam now if you:

  • Haven’t had an exam in the past year
  • Have diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of eye disease
  • Are over 60
  • Have noticed any changes in your vision
  • Experience eye pain, redness, sudden floaters, or flashes of light
